FOR THE LOVE OF BEES

I often get asked what is Green Box Bee.Co all about, Do you sell honey? do you make products from the hive? are you a beekeeper? are you an educator? the answer is yes, yes to all of the above. I have done all of those thing and continue to do most of them, but why so many different things?

Well its for the love of bees.

I have always had a huge respect for nature but not always the little creatures whose tireless work supports so much of our ecosystem. It all begun with a single trip to the bee yard one I will never forget and one that has shaped my life for many years. The first time I went into a honey bee hive I had my vail on incorrectly and ended up with bees trapped around my face, you would think this story ends with me deciding thats the end of that, but no. I loved the smell of the hive I loved the buzzing and I loved the calming energy when around the bees, I was HOOKED. I have spent many years learning about bees, keeping them, saving them and sometime unknowingly killing them. I have learned a lot and I have shared a lot, I have tried and tried to find my place in the world of beekeeping, as a creator of products, as a seller of honey, as a contract beekeeper and as an educator. After all this I have found my way back where it all started with the simple act of being curious. All those years ago I didn’t love bees, they didn’t fascinate me and truthfully I didn’t even really notice them. Until one day I was curious and I started to learn and explore and become interested and with that I started to care. I started to care about what bees did for us and for our world, I started to care about what I could do for them and with the more I learned the more I cared and the more engaged I became. So now after exploring all that bees have to offer I come back with the offerings of an educator. I am passionate about teaching people not just about bees but about being passionate and becoming engaged in the things that strike our curiosity, that make us want to grow and learn and be better.
